Apple launches Siri based navigation system for cars

Few years back Apple changed the way of listening music and now it is back making driving easier. Apple launched Initial Operating System (IOS) Siri for cars. Through this “Eye Free” vehicle navigation system driver can easily obtain all the routes and important information in seconds just on a press of a button.

Siri is an intelligence personal assistant which works on iOS. This application uses Natural Language User Interface to answer the user. It’s very friendly between users.Eyes Free will presumably be able to tap into the upgraded Maps app that will also be a part of iOS 6. Apple plans to ditch the Google Maps app that currently comes pre-installed on iOS devices in favor of its own app. The update will include turn-by-turn navigation guides with spoken directions, as well as real-time traffic information, with alternate route suggestions.

An image on the Apple website (above) shows a driver in a BMW with a white iPhone attached to the center console.Like most other infotainment systems on the market, MyLink is voice-activated, but responds to only 50 or 60 commands (Ford Sync is the exception with 10,000 voice commands). However, with the upcoming Eyes Free integration, using MyLink could get a lot more intuitive for iPhone 4S users. Even better would be if consumers skip purchasing MyLink all together and just rely entirely on their smartphone for telematics services, but don’t count on that being an option any time soon.

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook launched ‘Eyes Free’ in Apple’s Annual Developer Conference. While using this system drivers can access their Iphone without picking it up. He just needs to press few buttons installed on cars steering after that Siri will automatically gets switched on. No dates for an official announcement were given, but consumers can expect to hear more about it within the next 12 months. Apple has installed this feature in upcoming cars of BMW, General Motors, Audi, Toyota and Honda. After the launch of this application we can say “Now Drive with No Worry”.
